Effect of Intensification Pressure on Eutectic Si Segregation of Al-12Si-1Cu Alloy in Squeeze Casting

Abstract Squeeze casting is an advanced technology to produce aluminum alloy components with excellent mechanical property. Due good fluidity and castability, the Al-Si most common material in squeeze casting. However, segregation solid α-Al phase liquid eutectic Si happens during solidification, which leads microstructural inhomogeneous final microstructure. In this study, of Al-12Si-1Cu under different intensification pressure was investigated by Optical Microscopy (OM). The results show that increasing promotes at center zone, while skin zone not much influenced. Increasing from 65 MPa 140 MPa, degree increases 0.05 0.29, levels 0.2.
